OUR WORK
Research Support Services provides sediment sampling, instrument deployment, habitat surveys and research diving services to environmental consultants and engineering firms. These firms are typically contracted with property owners, municipalities and agencies to assist with cleanup, environmental assessment, construction permitting and mitigation projects.
We bring only the necessary personnel into the field and complete the field team with client staff as much as possible so they can observe, participate in and direct the work to the extent they wish.
RSS works exclusively as a subcontractor and does not solicit work from end clients.
Taking RSS into the field means:
• An alternative to costly increased staffing and equipment upkeep.
• An extended range of services in the offshore and underwater environment.
• Meeting the end client’s needs with in-house staff as much as possible.
THE RSS TEAM
ERIC PARKER
OWNER, VESSEL OPERATOR, FIELD LEAD
Eric Parker brings his enthusiasm for efficiency and problem solving to nearshore marine fieldwork. He is highly regarded for creativity in pre-project design and for resourcefulness and ingenuity in the field.
Eric has designed and adapted specialized equipment and techniques for marine video and habitat surveys, structural inspections, and sampling. He has helped develop successful eelgrass transplant and monitoring techniques and several specialized sampling tools.
He also has public- and private-sector planning experience with environmental impact, wetland mitigation, salmon habitat and comprehensive planning projects. Eric enjoys excellent working relationships with project managers and agency oversight personnel and works interactively with them to refine survey methods to suit specific projects. He is approved by WDFW to conduct forage fish, aquatic vegetation and geoduck surveys, and holds the U.S. Coast Guard Master License required on vessels-for-hire.
Eric draws on a small pool of great people who make RSS happen—technicians, deckhands, divers, tenders, vessel operators and biologists...
